Flora of Kaçkar Mountains

The results of some researches on the flora of Rize and Çamlıhemşin are given below.

Rize Flora, Vegetation and Pollen Analysis of Local Honey, Tübitak Project No: TBAG-650, Prof.Dr. Adil Güner et al. 1987: A total of 1430 flora (plant) varieties were identified in the research.

North- East Turkey Black Sea Forests Project, Draft Botanical Survey, Byfield, A. May 1995: In the study, it was stated that there were 145 rare and 24 endemic species in the area under the title of Fırtına Deresi, and the endemism rate was 17%.

DK Forestry Research Directorate Report, 10 October 1989: The report states that the area is a 1.5 ha stand consisting of thick diameter (10-18 cm) and tall (6-8.5 cm) boxwoods in Şenyuva locality and is the Nature Conservation Area, which is the most sensitive protection status for their protection. is proposed to be proposed.

Natural old forests of the Eastern Black Sea Region, Kurdoğlu, O. 1996: Naturally aged forests, which are rapidly decreasing in the world and are accepted as one of the most valuable ecosystems, are among the resource values that need to be protected in the storm basin, including the national park. In the examinations made, it was observed that the naturally old forests spread especially in the upper parts of Çamlıhemşin and on both slopes of Ayder, Fırtına and Elevit valleys.

Rize province and its regions are located in the Colchis (Colchis) part of the Euro-Siberian flora region from the Euro-Siberian, Irano-Turanian and Mediterranean (Mediterranean) regions, which are the 3 major flora regions of our country in terms of plant geography. The Euro-Siberian flora area in Turkey is divided into two parts by the Melet River in Ordu province. The section in the east is called Kolchik and the section in the west is called Öksin.
